Sign up today to become a volunteer book giver on World Book Night and spread the joy of reading in our community! On World Book Night (April 23rd, 2014) 25,000 book givers around the country will each give away 20 copies of a specially-printed, World Book Night edition of a book they have read and loved, chosen from a list of 35 titles selected by a panel of librarians and booksellers. The volunteer book givers personally hand out their copies to complete strangers, people who may never have owned a book of their own. Why don't you sign up to be a part of this special night? The Wichita Falls Public Library has been approved as a distribution point for boxes of books.
We've added several new databases through the Texas State Library's Texshare Database program. Here's one you won't want to miss! The Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center offers detailed "how-to" instructions and creative ideas to meet the interests of virtually every hobby enthusiast.
Once again, the library's Summer Reading Program is online or on your smartphone! Every member of your family can win prizes just for reading. Simply register in the appropriate age group, and then either log the number of minutes you've read (kids) or write book reviews (teens and adults) to win prizes. This years we've also added a "Read to Me" age group for the little ones. We've invited some awesome performers to the library for free performances.
