book coverThis week’s Fiction Friday, The Adventures of Beanboy by Lisa Harkrader, is a quirky story that will appeal to kids who have dreams of drawing their own comic books.  In this story, twelve-year-old Tucker has a busy life.  His parents divorced several years ago, and he’s responsible for taking care of his younger brother while their mom works full time and goes to night school to earn her degree.  Factor in school, hanging out with friends and dodging bullies, and busy Tucker can barely find time to read his favorite comic books, much less create his own comic book.  However, when he discovers a contest

ABC Ready

abc blocksThis will be the last ABC Ready for awhile.  I’m going to take a break from this particular blog feature as I prepare for Summer Reading (which starts on May 29th!).  We have a lot of fun things planned for children of all ages this summer, so please stop by the library during the coming weeks to pick up our Summer Reading Calendar.  In the meantime, remember to read stories and sing rhymes with your little ones.

Tales for Tails - Reading Program for Children

tales for tailsChildren are invited to come to the library for our new Tales for Tails program to read to therapy dogs Pixie or Glory, and their certified owners. The program will begin Wednesday, May 2nd, and will continue throughout the summer.  Pixie or Glory and their owners will be in the Activity Room from 4-5 pm every Wednesday. Bring a favorite book to read, or select one from the library shelves.
